Like dew before a thunderbolt

Collection of experimental short films
Switzerland, 2025-

Synopsis

Collection of short films shot on Super 8 film in Geneva, inspired by Jisei (death or farewell poems)written by Samurai in the 16th and 17th centuries.

I was touched by these texts, and furthermore by this concept: ‘writing a last poem before dying’.

Thus, in spite of the huge differences in cultures and eras, something has passed from these samurai to me.

Let’s say that it’s this ‘passage’ that I’m trying to find with the films.

It could be likened to an exercise in ‘drifting’ or psychogeography.

Between contemplation, thoughts flows and other visual wandering experiences, I’m shooting images in Geneva to recreate moods shared across space and time, based on the impressions and emotions conveyed by the texts.

Films can be screened as standalone pieces or collected in ‘volumes’. Texts are used on screen, in French or English.
